1. Overview: What is a project?
In the Cutup Generator, a project is the top-level container that organizes all of your film work. Think of it the same way you organize a binder — everything related to a specific opponent, week, or phase of your season lives inside one project.
Each project holds the clips, cutups, and categories you build within it. Before you can begin cutting film, you must either create a new project or open an existing one.
📋 Prerequisites
You must be logged into the Cutup Generator with a valid account before creating or managing projects. Contact your system administrator if you do not have access.
2. Navigating to the Projects area
The Projects area is your home base inside the Cutup Generator. All project management actions begin here.
-
Open the Cutup Generator. Launch the application. You will land on the main dashboard.
-
Locate the Projects section. In the left-hand navigation panel, click Open Project. The main content area will display all of your existing projects in a list or grid view.
3. Creating a new project
Creating a new project is the first step before any film work can begin.
-
Click "New Project." From the Projects area, locate and click the + New Project button, typically found in the upper-left corner of the panel.
-
Enter a project name. Type a clear, descriptive name into the Project Name field. A consistent naming convention — such as Opponent Offense
-
Click OK
-
Select the project that was created an navigate to "Filter Project". This will enable you to set a global filter by adding conditions. You want to filter specifically the film that applies to your side of ball.
-
Opponent Offense - Set ODK = O
-
Self Scout Offense - Set ODK = O
-
-
Click the "+" sign to begin to adjust the filters
-
Yellow = Column
-
Purple = Condition
-
Green = Value

-
-
Once you have added your project, Click "+ Add" on the right side menu to select the games you want to add to your project.
4. Managing existing projects
Once you have created projects, the Projects panel gives you full control over how you organize and access them.
Opening a project
-
Locate the project in your list. Scroll through the Projects panel or use the search bar to find the project you want to work in.
-
Click on the project. Click the project's name or row then click "Open". The system will open the project and display its contents — your clips, categories, and cutup sequences will all be accessible from within the project view.
5. Editing project details
If you need to rename a project or update its filter after creation, you can do so at any time.
-
Access the project options menu. From the Projects list, locate the project you want to edit. Single click the project to begin editing the name.
-
Select "Filter Project" if you need to adjust the project filter.
-
Make your changes and save. Update the project name or any editable fields, then click Open to confirm. The changes will be reflected immediately in your project list.
6. Deleting a project
Projects can be deleted when they are no longer needed. Use caution — this action is permanent and cannot be undone.
-
Access the project options menu. From the Projects list, click the "- Delete" icon next to the project you wish to delete.
7. Best practice for coaches
The following practices will help you build a clean, efficient project library throughout your season.
-
Create separate projects for offense, defense, and special teams. If your staff divides film responsibilities by unit, consider creating individual projects per coordinator. This avoids clutter and keeps each unit's cutups focused and organized.
-
Create projects for self-scout and opponent scout
-
Create projects for practice film as well to keep cutups from the spring or fall camp.
-
There is no need to create a project for a specific opponent. The goal is to build one project and then adjust the games for the opponent to quickly create cutups each week.
