Sort Rules Overview

A sort rule decides what order the film plays in — and, if you want, a lot more: it can split a playlist into sub-folders, or stamp count-and-percentage bands right into the grid so the tendencies read themselves. One rule, built once, reused everywhere.

One Rule, Three Jobs

A sort rule is an ordered list of columns. Depending on each column's checkboxes, the rule can do any mix of three jobs:

  • Order every play in the playlist (no checkboxes needed).

  • Split the playlist into sub-folders, one level per Folder column.

  • Add count/percentage bands in the grid, one band per group, via the Count and Pct checkboxes.

Sort rules live on the column set — the Sort Rules tab of the Column Set editor — and attach to folder rules by name. Build "Down & Distance" once and every rule that attaches it gets the same treatment.
