Building a Chart

From Manage Charts → + Add Chart (or the pencil on an existing one). The builder is one page with a live Preview at the bottom, so you see the chart take shape as you pick:

Chart style — Grouped columns, Stacked columns, Bar (horizontal), Line, or Radar.
Group by (category axis) — the field along the axis (Formation, Down, Play Type…). The picker lists Suggested fields first — columns whose data actually charts well — with All fields below.
Split by (series — optional) — a second field that breaks each bar into colored series ("(None — single series)" by default). Formation grouped, split by Play Type = run/pass stacked inside every formation.
Measure — Play count, Sum of field, Average of field, or Success rate. The last three ask for the field (numeric fields are offered first).
Shaping: *op categories ("all" by default — extras roll together), Category order (Rule order/Largest first/Alphabetical), and with a split,Top series and Series order. Two checkboxes toggle Show X-axis labels/Show Y-axis labels.
Title (optional) — leave it blank and the chart names itself from its fields ("Auto from fields").

The preview caption keeps you honest: "Previewing the first playlist this rule produces." Save chart commits it to the catalog; back on the tab, check it to assign it to the rule.

Reading and Using Charts

Click a chart node under a playlist and the pane renders it live — same recipe, that playlist's plays.

The real power is the drill-down: double-click a bar or segment and the grid opens filtered to exactly those plays — Trips × Pass means those plays, nothing else. You land in the standard what-if view with the filter chips and Reset view to climb back out. Nothing is written to your rules.

Chart Settings (Applies to Every Chart)

From Manage Charts → Settings. As the page says: "These defaults apply to every chart — in the workbench and baked onto uploaded title slides." One place, one look, everywhere.

Fonts — Default font and Font size (px).
Title — Show chart title, plus its font, size, Alignment (Left/Center/Right), Placement (Top/Bottom), and color.

Colors — two tabs that work together:

Series colors (by order) — the ordered palette. Pick a Palette preset — Default, Tableau 10, Office, Colorblind-safe, Pastel, or Vibrant — then tweak: drag colors to reorder, Add color, or edit any swatch (edits show as "Custom…").
Value colors (by name) — force a specific value to a color across all charts, e.g. "Run" → green. A name match always wins over the palette.
Defaults for new charts — the Default chart style and Default measure every new recipe starts with.
Display — Show gridlines, Show legend (+ Legend position), Show data labels.
Background — the chart card's color, on-screen and on baked slides.
A live preview shows every change before you Save settings.
